AUSTINTOWN

A man who was reported missing by his wife Tuesday morning was found dead in the woods behind Evans Road, Austintown police said.

Police were dispatched to a wooded area behind 4750 Norquest Road on Tuesday afternoon where they found a white male in his mid-30s, according to Courtney R. Bouchie, investigator for the Mahoning County Coroner’s office.

Township detectives declined to comment, and neighbors said they didn’t know who the man was.

A navy blue Chevrolet Impala had been sitting on Evans Road since Sunday, according to residents, but they had assumed it belonged to a holiday visitor to one of the nearby homes.

The body was found about 300 feet behind the houses on the road, police said, but no other information was released late Tuesday.

Police Chief Bob Gavalier said a cause of death is under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.
