‘Twilight,’ Bond, ‘Lincoln’ top weekend

Bella Swan, James Bond and Abe Lincoln have lifted Hollywood to record Thanksgiving revenue at the box office.

Kristen Stewart’s finale as Bella in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2” was No. 1 again with $64 million in the five-day holiday stretch that began Wednesday, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Daniel Craig’s Bond flick “Skyfall” came in at No. 2 with $51 million, while Daniel Day-Lewis and Steven Spielberg’s Civil War saga “Lincoln” finished third with $34.1 million.

According to box-office tracker Hollywood.com, the three films paced Hollywood to an all-time Thanksgiving week best of about $290 million.

In fourth place was “Rise of the Guardians” with $24 million, and in fifth place was “Life of Pi” with $22 million.

Rolling Stones mark 50th year with show

The Rolling Stones made a triumphant return to the London stage Sunday night in the first of five concerts to mark the 50th anniversary of their debut as an American-oriented blues band.

The Stones passed the half-century mark in style at the sometimes emotional gig that saw former bassist Bill Wyman and guitar master Mick Taylor join their old mates Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood in front of a packed crowd at London’s 02 Arena. The show lasted two and half hours.

Grammy-winning bassist hurt in crash

GENEVA

Grammy-winning jazz bassist Marcus Miller and several members of his band were injured when their bus overturned Sunday on a busy highway in Switzerland, killing the driver, police said.

The German-registered private bus tipped over as it drove into a bend on the A2 highway in central Switzerland and came to a rest on its side, police said. The bus was carrying 13 people — two drivers and 11 members of the Marcus Miller Band, including Miller.

Over his career, the bassist has worked with jazz greats such as Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and Wayne Shorter, according to his website. He won two Grammys, his first coming in 1991 for Best Rhythm & Blues Song (“Power of Love”) along with Luther Vandross and Teddy Vann, and the second came in 2001 for Best Contemporary Jazz Album (”M2”).

The band was on its way from Monte Carlo to the Dutch town of Hengelo, where it was due to perform today.

Pittsburgh to host ‘Jack Reacher’ event

PITTSBURGH

Pittsburgh will host its first movie premiere in decades when Tom Cruise returns to western Pennsylvania next month for a red-carpet showing of “Jack Reacher.”

The U.S. premiere will take place Dec. 15 at the SouthSide Works Cinema. The action-thriller was filmed in Pittsburgh early this year and during fall 2011.

Cruise plays the film’s title character, an investigator who looks into the case of a military sniper accused of killing five random victims.

The Pittsburgh Post- Gazette reported that Cruise is expected to be joined at the premiere by cast members Robert Duvall and Rosamund Pike.

“Jack Reacher” opens nationwide Dec. 21.
