Phantoms shut out Team USA; Stenglein traded

YOUNGSTOWN — On the day the Youngstown Phantoms traded last year’s top goal scorer, the USHL team won its third-straight game.

Hours after trading JT STengelin to the Sioux City Musketeers, the Phantoms rolled over Team USA, 6-0, at the Covelli Centre.

Kyle Connor and Ryan Lowney each scored two goals while Markus McCrea and Alexander Dahl had the others.

Goaltender Sean Romeo made 23 saves.

Stenglein put up 6-5-11 in 11 games with the Phantoms this season and recorded 38-27-65 over three years in Youngstown. His 31 goals scored in 2011-12 set a single-season record for the franchise.

“I’d like to thank JT for his time and effort here and wish him nothing but the best in the future,” Phantoms head coach Anthony Noreen said. “There are no hard feelings or ill-will involved in the deal. We just felt that this was something that was best for both sides involved.”
