Youngstown concert band, Stambaugh Chorus team up to benefit food bank

The second annual Holiday Concert of Giving will be Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. in Stambaugh Auditorium, with proceeds benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank. The concert will feature the Stambaugh Chorus and the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band, with a special appearance by Santa Claus.
Cash donations (no food items) will be accepted at the door. Last year’s concert raised more than $2,500.
The Stambaugh Chorus was founded in 2007 and is led by Hae-Jong Lee, a music professor at Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music.
The YACCB was founded in 1983 and includes musicians from throughout the region. It is conducted by Joseph Pellegrini.
The concert will begin with a performance by the chorus of secular and sacred Christmas music.
The YACCB’s performance will begin with the auditorium’s pipe organ, and will also include Christmas music.
In the finale, both groups will combine to perform “Christmas on Broadway” and Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”
Cash or checks, made out to Second Harvest Food Bank, will be accepted as donations.
