St. Columba Cathedral was the setting Sept. 22 for the exchange of wedding vows by Marci McBride of Poland and Scott Jakubek of Berlin Center.

The Rev. John Keehner officiated at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.

A reception followed at The Georgetown, Boardman.

Barbara McBride of Poland is the mother of the bride. The parents of the groom are Vickie Jakubek of Berlin Center and John Jakubek of Canfield.

Robert McBride, the bride’s father, is deceased. His birth date was chosen as the wedding date.

The bride wore a soft organza gown with double diamond spaghetti straps across one shoulder. The gown had a ruched bodice and a ruffled gathered skirt. A rose from her mother’s wedding gown was incorporated into the gown, and her veil was trimmed with lace from her mother’s wedding gown.

Laura McBride, the bride’s sister-in-law, was matron of honor, and Melissa Thompson was maid of honor. They wore black dresses with purple sashes.

Bridesmaids, wearing purple dresses with black sashes, were Nici Fortundo; Kara Mike; Jodi Jakubek, the groom’s sister; Lisa Miller, the bride’s cousin; Casey Smith; Christine Pachell; Danielle Williamson; and Christina Rivera. Kayli Hardisky and Kiera Pence were flower girls.

The groom’s brothers, John and Joe Jakubek, shared the duties of best man. Groomsmen were Ryan McBride, the bride’s brother, who also escorted his sister; Joe Bokros and Gary Miller, the bride’s cousins; and James Sheridan, Joe Zoldak, Mike Murray, Mike Pence and Brad Rauthrauff. Colin and Patrick McBride, the bride’s nephews, were ring bearers.

The bride received a bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and a master’s degree from Gonzaga University. She is a reporting analyst for First National Bank, Hermitage, Pa.

The groom is a heavy- equipment operator for The Acme Co., Boardman. He served in the Army National Guard for 10 years, including two tours to Iraq.

After a wedding trip to Nashville, Tenn., the couple reside in Canfield.
