Man faces charges after two accidents

Police have arrested a 56-year-old East Side man on charges of driving under the influence and multiple traffic offenses after a hit-and-run accident on the South Side followed by another accident on the East Side.

Solomon Robbins of Plazaview Court has been charged with failure to control, failure to stop after an accident, driving under the influence and driving under suspension.

He is scheduled for arraignment in Youngstown Municipal Court today.

According to police, Robbins rear-ended a car on South Avenue at Indianola Avenue just after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Two people in the car hit were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Robbins did not stop after the accident. He took off from the scene but was arrested a short time later when he was involved in another accident at U.S. Route 62 near the Himrod Avenue overpass.

Police reports say Robbins’ car went off the road and hit a guardrail. No one was injured in the second accident.
