No. 1 Indiana 66, Georgia 53

Victor Oladipo had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 1 Indiana in the semifinals of the Progressive Legends Classic at the Barclays Center. Jordan Hulls and Christian Watford both had 14 points for the Hoosiers (4-0) and they were the ones who finally started hitting from long range as Indiana established control of the game. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Vincent Williams both had 14 points for Georgia (1-3), which lost its third straight. The Hoosiers, who came into the game shooting 39.4 percent from 3-point range missed 11 of the first 12 shots they took from behind the arc. Watford hit a 3 with 10:06 left to end the shooting slump and extended Indiana’s lead to 45-40.

No. 9 North Carolina 95, Mississippi State 49

LAHAINA, HAWAII

Leslie McDonald scored 21 points as one of five North Carolina players in double-figures in an easy win over Mississippi State at the Maui Invitational. P.J. Hairston had 18 points, Reggie Bullock had 16 points, and Dexter Strickland and James McAdoo each scored 10. Roquez Johnson led the Bulldogs with 12 points. The Tar Heels scored the game’s first nine points and led 29-6 in less than 10 minutes. Mississippi State never came closer than 20 points behind after that. A fade-away 3-pointer from Hairston put UNC up 42 with 5:30 left in the game. Mississippi State made just seven shots in the first half and shot 28.3 percent for the game. North Carolina next faces Butler, which topped Marquette on a buzzer-beater 3-pointer earlier Monday.

No. 10 Arizona 94, Long Beach State 72

TUCSON, ARIZ.

Freshman Brandon Ashley had 20 points and 10 rebounds in his first start, Kevin Parrom hit all five of his 3-pointers for 15 points and Arizona ran over Long Beach State. Arizona (3-0) quickly turned what was supposed to be its toughest challenge of the early season into a rout, racing out to a 22-point lead in the first half.

The Wildcats shot 53 percent while making 9 of 19 from 3-point range and 25 of 35 free throws. Ashley led the way, hitting all six of his shots from the field and 8 of 9 free throws. Solomon Hill made all 11 of his free throws to add 15 points for Arizona, which gets nine days off before its next game. James Ennis had 17 points and Peter Pappageorge added 16 for Long Beach State (1-3).

Georgetown 78, No. 11 UCLA 70

Markel Starks scored 23 points for Georgetown in the semifinals of the Progressive Legends Classic, spoiling the college debut of Shabazz Muhammad. Otto Porter had 18 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Hoyas (3-0). The Hoyas opened the second half on a 12-0 run — with Greg Whittington hitting two 3s — to take a 43-29 lead, their biggest of the game. The Bruins (3-1) were within 59-53 on a 3-pointer by Norman Powell. But the Hoyas went on a 7-1 run that was capped by a hook shot by Nate Lubick with 6:17 to go. The Bruins did get within 77-70 on a 3 by Muhammad with 50 seconds to play.

WOMEN

No. 14 Purdue 59, Bowling Green 45

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND.

Drey Mingo had 13 points and Sam Ostarello scored 12 to lead Purdue to a win over Bowling Green. Danielle Havel had nine points to lead the Falcons (2-1).
