Man, 18, killed in S. Side shooting

City police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Youngstown man found Sunday at the same South Side house where two others were murdered six months ago.

Police were called to 240 E. Avondale Ave. about 9 a.m. Sunday for a shooting and found Tamarick D. Moore of Alameda Avenue dead inside a sport-utility vehicle, according to a Youngstown Police Department report.

Officials did not know for sure whether the shooting occurred Sunday morning or sometime late Saturday or why Moore was at the Avondale address.

Moore’s body was found in a Ford Explorer in front of the residence, according to police.

The lower portion of the duplex on Avondale was covered with boards, but the upper level appeared to be occupied.

Moore’s body was found at the same site as a double homicide in May where Juanetta Franklin and Pako Lacey, both of Youngstown, were found shot and killed inside the home.

No arrests have been made in the investigation into the deaths of Franklin and Lacey. Although the department has stated there is a person of interest in the case, there is not enough information for charges.

A neighbor who declined to give his name, said the residence has always been trouble and hopes the city tears it down.

In addition to the homicides, there was also a shooting just one block away in 300 block of East Avondale Avenue where a man was shot in the crotch after an argument.

The Youngstown Police Department has not indicated any suspect in Moore’s death, and no further information was being released Sunday night.

There are a number of vacant homes in the 200 block of Avondale, several of which are on the city’s list for demolition. That area of the South Side was targeted for demolitions after a series of killings and violence there in recent years.

Moore’s death is the 25th homicide in Youngstown of 2012. There were 22 homicides in the city at this time last year and 23 recorded for all of 2011.
