Holiday baskets for Mahoning families

Kiwanis Club of Western Mahoning County will donate Thanksgiving baskets Tuesday to Mahoning County families. Mahoning County Children Services in collaboration with Kiwanis has identified families in need to receive the donation. Kiwanis has been a partner with Mahoning CSB on several other projects, including providing digital cameras to be used in child-abuse and neglect investigations. The baskets will be distributed at the Saxon Club on Meridian Road.

Al Bright exhibit set at gallery in mall

The Art Outreach Gallery in the Eastwood Mall Complex will open “A Celebration of Al Bright: Artists’ Reunion” on Friday. The exhibit will feature works by artist, professor and author Al Bright and more than 40 of his past students. The show will run through Jan. 6. An opening artist’s reception is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 2. The gallery has moved to a new location across the hallway from its previous location next to Express along the concourse between Macy’s and Sear’s. Gallery hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. All exhibits are free.

The Lawrence County Treasurer’s office, 430 Court St., will mail county tax reminder notices to taxpayers who have not paid their 2012 county property taxes. Any not paid by Dec. 31 will be filed with the Tax Claim Bureau, and the property owner will incur additional costs. No personal checks will be accepted after Dec. 15.
