Library still closed

POLAND

Poland Library remains closed today and is likely to be closed Monday as officials investigate the source of an odor, said Janet Loew, library spokeswoman.

Loew said the library does not believe the smell to be a health risk, but as it strengthened, the library decided to take the precaution of closing to protect patrons and staff. Outside agencies are expected to continue investigating the source of the odor this week.

“We are taking it one day at a time,” she said.

The man fled on nearby Elm Street, but was caught by an officer and a police dog. As of Saturday night, police were not identifying the man, who is expected to face robbery or aggravated robbery charges.

Liberty senior dead

LIBERTY

Counselors and the Trumbull County Crisis Response Team will be at Liberty High School Monday to help students cope with this weekend’s death of high-school senior Brianna Murray, Superintendent Stan Watson said.

“This is a very tragic event and certainly Liberty High School has a very close-knit group of students, so a number of them are affected. We will do whatever we can to support our students,” Watson said. He noted that Murray had a prior medical condition that is believed to have contributed to her death.
