Cornersburg Dairy Queen hosts pumpkin hunt

Rainy weather did little to deter children from participating in Cornersburg Dairy Queen’s pumpkin hunt Oct. 27.
“Because of the weather, we had to move inside. We filled big boxes with straw and kids can also decorate their own cupcake pumpkins. It was a fun thing to do for the kids and for us, this is our target market and it’s exciting. We don’t just cater to children – we also have older people who come to see the children in costume,” said store manager Chrissy Smith.
Children, dressed as a variety of elaborate characters, including pirates, tigers, princess and even the Hulk, entered Dairy Queen ready to enjoy delicious treats. Sounds of loud laughter and excitement filled the facility as children dug deep into several boxes for their prizes. They also explored their creative sides while they decorated cupcakes shaped like pumpkins.
While younger participants showed off their costumes, their parents also took the opportunity to have fun as well. Amber Stanley was just happy her daughters were having a good time and meeting new friends.
“It’s close to home and it’s Dairy Queen so we came to have lunch. It’s nice to give the kids something to do and it brings the community together. Kids can also meet other kids from the neighborhood, as well,” Stanley said.
