An Ohio man has been arrested in a bank robbery in the Maine city of Portland.

Federal prosecutors say 38-year-old Richard D. Gooding of Youngstown was arrested in his home state Wednesday on charges of robbing the Bangor Savings Bank on Brighton Avenue on Tuesday.

The U.S. attorney for Maine says Gooding was arrested in Lisbon, Ohio, after an investigation by the Portland Police Department with help from the Southern Maine Gang Task Force, which includes members of the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

Authorities say Gooding is expected to appear in a federal court in Ohio before being returned to Maine to face charges.
