POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Nov. 5

Theft: Someone stole 200 feet of welding cable in the 5100 block of Kennedy Road.

Nov. 6

Criminal mischief: A vehicle in the 8300 block of Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road was found with a damaged rear window.

Nov. 10

Breaking and entering: Someone entered an Ohio Edison Co. substation in the 6700 block of Lowellville-New Castle Road before stealing 400 feet of ground wiring valued at $1,600.

Nov. 9

Drugs: A traffic stop on Market Street led to charges of drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia against 20-year-old Dwayne H. St. Thomas, 29 W. Ravenwood Ave., Youngstown, when, police said, a bag containing a white powder that tested positive for cocaine, 12 bags with their corners torn and two digital scales with suspected marijuana residue were found. Also arrested were Andre R. Barnett, 20, of 185 E. Judson Ave., Youngstown, on a parole-violation warrant related to a cocaine-possession charge, as well as Shaba C. Gregory, 19, of 834 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown. Gregory was wanted on a warrant from Trumbull County accusing her of failing to appear in court on a charge of resisting arrest.

Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Mayflower Drive, apparently through a rear double-pane window. A Sony PlayStation 3 system, a 27-inch TV and 30 DVDs were taken.

Theft: A man reported a jacket, a cellphone and his Ohio driver’s license stolen while in the 7600 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A woman discovered her $213 cellphone missing while at Southern Park Mall.

Menacing: A woman told officers a man had threatened her at an East Midlothian Boulevard gas station.

Identity fraud: A Sharpsville, Pa., woman discovered several small unauthorized charges to her credit card after having taken her son to a Market Street business.

Assaults: Two men in the 7300 block of Bonnie Place each reported having been assaulted by the other, though neither suffered visible injuries.

Theft: A man noticed a $500 wedding ring missing from his Applewood Boulevard home.

Nov. 10

Assault/menacing: A Westport Drive woman told authorities another woman struck her face during a confrontation at Mill Creek MetroParks. The accuser also reported having received a threatening text message.

Counterfeit: A fake $10 bill was presented at a Shell gas station, 998 E. Western Reserve Road.

Theft: A man reported his wallet stolen at a Southern Park Mall kiosk.

Theft: Authorities booked 41-year-old Yolanda R. Winlock, 1392 Victor St., Youngstown, after 24 articles of clothing valued at $338 were stolen from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road. Winlock also was wanted on a warrant from Trumbull County accusing her of violating a court order.

Arrest: Authorities on Tiffany Boulevard took into custody 33-year-old Jeremy R. Rojas on charges of resisting arrest, failure to comply with police and operating a vehicle impaired after saying the Victoria, Texas, man initially refused to pull over, then became hostile and failed at times to cooperate.

Possible theft: Police received information that a manager with Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 7295 Market St., had chased a man who reportedly fled after having set off the store’s security sensors. It was undetermined if anything was stolen, however, a report said.

Theft: A woman noticed her purse missing while at a South Avenue restaurant.

Criminal damaging: Someone drove across and damaged portions of three lawns in the 4400 block of Lockwood Boulevard.

Theft: A $300 air-conditioning unit was missing from a rental unit in the 4000 block of South Schenley Avenue.

Harassment: A Melrose Avenue man said a woman has been harassing him via the Internet, in part by creating a fictitious Facebook account with photographs of him without consent.

Nov. 11

Citation: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 resulted in 19-year-old Francis A. Cerech’s receiving a citation. Cerech, of 103 Jefferson St., Campbell, faced charges of having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft/criminal damaging: Someone in the 3900 block of Hopkins Road smashed a pickup truck’s window before removing a $150 radio.

Theft: A surveillance camera caught a man stealing a $400 vacuum cleaner from Sears in the Southern Park Mall and entering an older-model vehicle.

Aggravated menacing: A Canfield man told police the driver of a green Acura Integra followed him to a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant, then threatened him with a 3-inch pocket knife. The accuser had an unloaded firearm in his lap, causing the man with the knife to flee, a report showed.

Theft: Two women in their 20s removed two mobile phones and a headphone set from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Nov. 12

Theft: Police charged Angela M. Orr, 50, of 5000 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, and 55-year-old Ricardo R. Wallace, 60 Willis Ave., Youngstown, with stealing four pairs of shoes from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: Police near Market Street and Route 224 pulled over and arrested Michael J. Wright, 401 Rockdale Ave., Boardman, on a charge of violating a protection order. A woman having lunch at a Boardman-Poland Road eatery alleged that 56-year-old Wright had approached and spoken to her in violation of the order.

Theft: Jennifer M. Hirschl, 18, faced a theft count. Hirschl, of 7428 Eagle Trace Drive, Boardman, was accused of taking $236 worth of clothing and earrings from Dillard’s in Southern Park Mall.

Vandalism: Someone forced open a specimen box hanging outside a door to a doctor’s office in the 700 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Assault: A boy in the 20 block of Erskine Avenue reported a male punched his chest and fought with the teen before leaving the residence.

Theft: Police charged 40-year-old Wendy L. Bates, 609 Columbia Ave., Newton Falls, with stealing a $38 bottle of vodka from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: Police booked a 16-year-old Youngstown boy in the theft of a $25 headset from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
