Community thanksgiving dinners When and where


Churches and other area groups are offering free community/Thanksgiving dinners near or on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22. Here is a list of free meals offered by area organizations and churches.

Trumbull county

STEAM Academy, 261 Elm Road NE, Warren: The academy will host a free Thanksgiving dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The event will include live entertainment. For information, call 330-394-8003.

Salvation Army, 270 Franklin St., SE, Warren: A turkey dinner is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. To volunteer or donate, call 330-392-1573.

Warren Family Mission, 361 Elm Road NE, Warren: A Thanksgiving dinner will be served from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

mahoning county

Fellowship Tabernacle Christian Center, 2139 Market St., Youngstown: The center will host a free Thanksgiving feast from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday for the less fortunate. For information, call 330-559-8428.

First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 201 Wick Ave.: The church will host its 32nd annual free Thanksgiving dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today. A full-course turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetable, cranberry sauce, rolls, dessert and beverage will be served. There will be live entertainment in the sanctuary.

Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane: The Child Development Center will have its 15th annual Thanksgiving Family Feast at 11:30 a.m. today. Children will gather in the multipurpose room for turkey, stuffing and several side dishes. Family members are welcome to attend. Lunch will last about one hour.

McGuffey Road Church of Christ, 1101 Miami St., will host a Thanksgiving dinner for the community at 1 p.m. Saturday. There will be free hats and gloves for children and limited school supplies. There will be entertainment. For information, call 330-746-4409.

New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown: The Recovery Ministry will host a free Thanksgiving dinner from 1 to 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. No reservations are needed for the dinner at the church, but reservations are required for those who wish delivery to their homes or who need a ride to the building. Call 330-788-1637 until Wednesday. Individuals can call 330-747-2125 on Thanksgiving Day to reach the church.

North Lima Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave.: The church will host a free community dinner Thanksgiving Day with serving times at 11 a.m., 11:45 and 12:30 p.m. Dinner will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, rolls and butter, vegetables, pie and beverage. Make reservations by Monday by calling the church at 330-549-2588.

The Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave.: A public Thanksgiving dinner will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. For information, call 330-270-5999.

columbiana county

Salem Memorial Building, 785 E. State St., Salem: Local families, with help from the community, will serve a dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. No reservations are needed for the turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the memorial building, but reservations are required for those who wish delivery to their homes or who need a ride to the building.
