First Night to have volunteer meeting
YOUNGSTOWN
First Night Youngstown will have an orientation meeting for people who plan to volunteer at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the second floor auditorium of the Ohio One building, 25 E. Boardman St., downtown.
Event-night volunteers typically work a three-hour shift, and serve as admission button checkers and greeters, bus greeters, venue site inspectors, and admission button-sellers.
Volunteers who work at least one shift receive a free admission button to First Night Youngstown, which is the annual New Year’s Eve arts and entertainment event.
First Night is alcohol-free.

Dance studio plans Zumba dance party
BOARDMAN
The Fred Astaire Dance Studio, 5090 Market St., will host its second annual Zumbathon charity fundraiser Nov. 29.
The event is a Zumba fitness party that is open to the public.
Its goal is to raise money and awareness for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
A minimum donation of $15 is requested for admission. Registration will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m., with the party from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.

Writers group schedules meeting
CANFIELD
Area writers, both published and unpublished, are invited to attend the next meeting of Monday Night Writers from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Peaberry’s Cafe, 4350 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Led by author and professional writer Nancy Christie, the two-hour sessions include a mix of writing exercises and information on the creative and business aspects of writing.
Writers can bring manuscripts of their works-in-progress for feedback and criticism.
The fee is $10 per class, and registration is preferred.
