YSU empties Ward Beecher Hall after spill in lab

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Fire Department responded to a chemical spill at 3:30 p.m. today in a lab on the fifth floor of Ward Beecher Hall. The building has been evacuated as a precaution. There were no injuries.

The building will remain closed through this evening. Plans call for it to reopen at 6 a.m. Wednesday, the university announced.

Ron Cole, YSU spokesman, said text messages and emails have been sent to alert the campus to the closure. All other buildings remain open.
