Sara Shields and Tom Platz II, both of Charlotte, N.C., exchanged marriage vows at 5 p.m. June 23 at Banner Elk Winery. David Ford officiated. A reception in honor of the couple followed at the winery.

The parents of the couple are Gary and Penny Jo Shields of Austintown and Tom Platz of Girard and Mary Ann Platz of Erie, Pa.

The bride wore a fitted trumpet-style silhouette gown trimmed with embroidered ivory lace. It was completed with a chapel-length train and ribbon sash adorned with organza flowers and antique silver accents.

Honor attendant was Mallory Capretta, the bride’s sister. Bridesmaids were Kylie Holt and Halle Hendricks, the bride’s cousin. The attendants wore coral satin dresses.

John Fralic performed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were Jared Longley and Mike McKenzie. Josh Hendricks, the bride’s cousin, was an usher.

The bride is a manager at Pepper Dining Inc. in Charlotte. The groom is senior auditor for Data Scan Field Services, also in Charlotte.

The couple reside in Charlotte.
