Safe at Last rescue plans fundraiser

Safe at Last Dog Rescue is planning an event titled Break the Chain, in which volunteers will spend 14 hours chained up to draw attention to what neglected, chained-up dogs experience every day of their lives.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday outside Family Video, 4385 Kirk Road.

It will feature refreshments, a basket auction and a visit from some adoptable dogs.

Proceeds will help Safe at Last, a nonprofit rescue group, save dogs that have been abandoned, abused or neglected and place them into loving homes.
