Champion wins state title; Mathews is runner-up

Lindsay Swipas threw a 1-hit shutout to lead Champion over Bloom-Carroll 2-0 in the Division III softball state championship game on Saturday at Firestone Park in Akron.

It is the second straight state title for the Golden Flashes.

In the Division IV state title game, Mathews lost to Convoy Crestview 6-2.
