Man rescued from attempted jump in Boardman
BOARDMAN
Safety forces from Youngstown, Boardman and the Ohio State Highway Patrol helped rescue a man trying to jump from the Thalia Avenue overpass across Interstate 680 about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
A police officer reached through the fence and held the man until a firetruck could extended a ladder, said Boardman Fire Chief George Brown.
Two police officers tried to get the man on the ladder and when that did not work, a second firetruck arrived with a bucket and the man was lowered into that, Brown said.
“The police did the job; we just provided the equipment,” the chief said. The man was unharmed but was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, Brown said.

The incident occurred just before severe storms lashed the Boardman area.
