Lordstown police investigate home invasion

Staff report

LORDSTOWN

Police, working with state crime-scene investigators, are asking for help from the public after a home-invasion burglary on Selkirk-Bush Road in which a female resident was tied up and assaulted.

Lordstown police said a man and his son returned home at 10:48 a.m. Monday after being gone over the weekend and found the man’s 41-year-old wife tied up in the bedroom. The woman received medical attention because her attacker struck her in the face, police said.

Brent Milhoan, Lords-town police chief, said police don’t know yet how long the woman was tied up before her husband arrived. Police believe one suspect was involved in the burglary and that a small number of items were taken.

Police received assistance from the Warren Township Police Department and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation. Selkirk-Bush Road is on the west side of the village near Newton Township.

Milhoan, who said the village has had relatively few burglaries, is asking village residents to lock their windows and doors when they are not home and when they go to bed, but he understands why people leave windows open at night in the warm weather that has been prevalent in recent days.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call 330-824-2545.
