Burglary suspect escapes from Pa. county jail

COUDERSPORT, Pa. (AP) — State and local police have been searching for a burglary suspect who escaped from a county jail in north central Pennsylvania.

Officials with the Potter County Jail in Coudersport aren’t saying how 18-year-old Andrew Jeffers, of Ulysses got away.

The Bradford Era reports Wednesday that Jeffers was seen running through the woods near the jail wearing a yellow jail-issued jumpsuit about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

County jail officials are referring calls on the investigation to the Coudersport police, who did not immediately return a call for comment today. Deputy Warden Angela Milford confirmed that Jeffers was still missing this morning, but would not release other details.

Jeffers had been jailed on charges that he stole two motorcycles in overnight burglaries April 12-13 in Ulysses.
