“Broadway Bound,” the final installment in playwright Neil Simon’s famed trilogy (“Brighton Beach Memoirs” and “Biloxi Blues” are the others), opens Friday at New Castle Playhouse. Here are some facts about the play:

v Premiere: “Broadway Bound” premiered Oct. 6, 1986 at Duke University.

v Broadway: It opened on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre Dec. 4, 1986, and ran for 756 performances.

v Cast: The original Broadway cast included Linda Lavin, Jonathan Silverman, Jason Alexander, Phyllis Newman and John Randolph.

v Awards: The play received four Tony Award nominations, including Best Play. Lavin won as Best Actress in a Play and John Randolph won as Best Featured Actor in a Play.

v Television: “Broadway Bound” was adapted for a 1992 movie on ABC

“America’s Next Top Model” (9 p.m., The CW): The 18th season of “America’s Next Top Model” concludes with the crowning of its winner. But first, one of the finalists is taken to the hospital after suffering a panic attack.

Museum sponsors trip to New York

YOUNGSTOWN

The Butler Institute of American Art will sponsor an art tour of New York Oct. 10-14, with Louis A. Zona, director of the museum. The tour will visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art to view the reinstallation of the Met’s exhibition of American masterpieces. Stops will also be made at the Frick Museum of Art, the 9/11 Memorial, OK Harris Works of ART, and the Louis K. Meisel Gallery.

A highlight will be a visit to the Brooklyn Bridge Park to the see the restored and fully operational Jane’s Carousel, which traces its origins to Youngstown’s Idora Park. Actors sought for feature film

BOARDMAN

The feature film “Scorned” is seeking a handful of Ohio actors. The film will be shot in Cincinnati June 18 through July 6.

Those wishing to audition should call Lemodeln model and talent agency, 7536 Market St., Boardman, at 330-758-4417. Auditions will be taped Thursday between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The script will be available at the audition. Pay will be at daily Screen Actors Guild rates.

Roles available are for a 75-year-old woman; an escaped prisoner in his 40s; two police officers, one heavy; two detectives; a paramedic; a uniformed officer, a handsome, affluent man; and a young attractive female waitress.

Playwright dies

NEW YORK

William Hanley, a Broadway playwright and award-winning screenwriter, has died at the age of 80. His daughter, Katherine Hover, says he died on Friday at his home in Ridgefield., Conn.

Hanley’s works include “Slow Dance on the Killing Ground” and “Mrs. Dally Has a Lover” and the teleplays “The Long Way Home” and “The Kennedys of Massachusetts.” He won Emmys for the TV films “The Attic: The Hiding of Anne Frank” and “Something About Amelia.”

He also wrote the screenplay for the 1969 film, “The Gypsy Moths,” as well as several novels.

A native of Lorain, Ohio, Hanley is also survived by another daughter, Nell Hanley; a sister, Patricia Hanley; and three granddaughters.

His sister Ellen Hanley was a musical theater actress. She died in 2007.
