Man faces charges in heroin death of teen girl

WARREN

Tyler S. Stevens, 19, of 502 Park Ave., Girard, has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another with drugs, heroin trafficking and permitting drug abuse. He’s accused of giving a fatal dose of heroin to Christine Sheesley, 17, of Girard April 7.

Stevens appeared in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Tuesday on the charges. Judge Peter Kontos set bond at $250,000. If convicted, Stevens could get 20 years in prison.

Stevens was secretly indicted last week. He returns to court for his first preliminary hearing Monday.

According to the Trumbull County coroner’s office, Sheesley died April 7 at Stevens’ home of a heroin overdose.

Stevens’ charges say he caused Sheesley’s death by corrupting with drugs and/or aggravated heroin trafficking or permitting drug abuse in his home.

Sheesley, a junior at Girard High School, lived at 300 Churchill Road.
