During Healthy Kids Day, Bob & Chuck Eddy Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealership in Austintown hosted the Dodge Ride and Drive at the Davis Family YMCA in Boardman. Dodge vehicles were available for test drives. For each test drive, Dodge made a donation of $20 to the Davis Family YMCA to help support local kids and families in need. The event resulted in 35 test drives and a total donation of $700.

National College recognized employees and instructors from the Youngstown campus at the annual college in-service symposium in Youngstown in April.

Paula Kelley was honored with the Distinguished Teaching Award. Jamie Jackson received the Career Center Director of the Year Award for achieving the highest graduate job-placement rate in the division over the preceding four terms.

Samantha Brown, Stephanie McElfresh, Melissa McKinney and Allison Davis were presented the Student Services Team of the Year Award for achieving the highest performance in the division over the preceding four terms. Paula Muir and McKinney were recognized as outstanding employees of the year for the Youngstown campus.

Advanced Chiropractic and Rehab Inc. offers X-ray services at its Hubbard facility, 730 N. Main St.

Advanced Chiropractic has taken over the radiology department for Dr. Charles Sammarone’s Hubbard office, and is providing X-ray services for all patients needing diagnostic X-ray services seen at Sammarone’s office. Advanced Chiropractic and Rehab has hired Amanda Loomis, a licensed radiology technician. Additionally, staff member Angela Peterson recently successfully passed the state board examination to receive her GXMO (General X-Ray Machine Operators License), which allows her to take spinal X-rays.

Dr. Kathleen Padgitt is hosting a lecture series that focuses on whole foods for a holistic approach to a healthy lifestyle. She has seen firsthand the adverse effects food choices can have on health, longevity and quality of life. Her lecture series is designed to educate and provide the necessary tools to allow everyone the understanding and ability to take control of their health through the power of whole foods.

Energy

Direct Energy was named a finalist in the community- relations category for the Volunteer Citizen of the Year award programs in the 2012 American Business Awards. The company will win a gold, silver, or bronze Stevie Award in the program. The American Business Awards are a business awards program. All organizations operating in the United States are eligible to submit nominations public and private, for-profit and nonprofit, large and small.

Service

Quaker Steak & Lube has hired Michele Janci as area catering sales manager. She is charged with overseeing the catering division of the Lube’s Austintown, Boardman and Sharon locations. Janci most recently was the sales director for the Hampton Inn, Youngstown West, Meander Hospitality group. Janci has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years.
