CHAMPION

The 2012 World Of Wildlife Bicycle Tour, including 20-, 40- and 68-mile routes, will be June 9. Riders will use the Western Reserve Greenway in Trumbull and Ashtabula counties for most of the ride.

Event registration will be from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at Kent State University at Trumbull.

Food and beverages will be provided at rest stops along the route and at the conclusion of the ride. Western Reserve Greenway Bike Patrol volunteers will assist riders along the route. Ride proceeds benefit the Trumbull portion of the Western Reserve Greenway.

Bass classic set

NORTH LIMA

The 13th annual Muransky Companies Bass Classic, hosted by Aqua Ohio and benefiting the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, will take place on Saturday at Evans and Pine lakes.

Fifty-two teams of professional bass anglers and their amateur partners will compete for cash and prizes on the bass-filled reservoirs.

A “Fish & Fun” children’s event will take place in conjunction with the event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Evans Lake, located at the end of Calla Road off of the South Avenue Extension in Beaver Township.

There will be fishing along the shore. The first 200 children will receive a goodie bag with a T-shirt. Hot dogs, pizza, chips, pop and cotton candy will be provided. The event is free.

Programs at park

SALEM

Salem City Parks and Salem Public Library have partnered to provide a series of educational programs at Waterworth Memorial Park during June. The free programs will cover a variety of topics, each designed to increase knowledge about nature.

The series will kick off with a presentation from 2 to 3 p.m. June 5 at Pavilion 9 at Waterworth. The topic will be Secrets of the American Indian Medicine Men presented by Chris Mosebach, environmental educator of the Mercer County Conservation District. The presentation is provided as an outreach educational program through Munnell Run Farm of Mercer, Pa.

Internet training

SALEM

Salem Public Library offers an opportunity for area residents to gain knowledge and experience on a variety of computer-related topics when the State Library of Ohio’s Mobile Internet Training Lab returns to Salem June 5 to 12.

The free lab gives the opportunity for users to have hands-on computer instruction. The mobile lab is a converted bookmobile set up with 10 networked computers, a digital projector, screen and a networked printer.
