A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

May 16

Assault: An Edgewater Drive man reported having been assaulted.

May 17

Arrest: Police on state Route 170 pulled over 28-year-old Jennifer L. Newberry of Darlington, Pa., and charged her with operating a vehicle impaired.

May 19

Identity theft: A Hamilton Avenue woman discovered her debit-card account had been compromised.

May 22

Arrest: A traffic stop near U.S. Route 224 and Tala Drive resulted in the arrest of 50-year-old Richard G. Edwards, 550 High St., Washingtonville, on a charge of having fictitious license plates. Also, Alden C. Manning, 59, of 188 Tremble Ave., Campbell, was cited on a charge of having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Harassment: A Sylvan Street man said a person he knows sent unwanted text messages to him.

May 23

Arrest: Police charged 42-year-old Peter M. Abbas, 3348 Flora Ave., Youngstown, with obstructing official business during a traffic stop on Clovermeade Drive.

BOARDMAN

May 21

Theft: A global-positioning-system unit and a camera were removed from a vehicle in the 20 block of Sciota Avenue.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 80 block of Willow Drive, from which two flat-screen TVs, an electronic keyboard and other items were stolen.

Theft: A book bag, a wallet and other property were stolen from a car in the 200 block of Mill Creek Drive.

Assault: A woman in the 7300 block of West Boulevard reported a male struck her in the leg with a brick. She suffered a minor injury.

Recovered property: A Youngstown woman reported several belongings were returned after she accused her boyfriend of having stolen them while at the Southern Park Mall.

Arrest: Police took into custody 48-year-old Margaret R. Gregory at her residence, 3980 S. Schenley Ave., Boardman. Gregory was accused of failing to appear in court to answer a charge of passing a bad check.

Vandalism: A bathroom door was damaged in a room at the Wagon Wheel Motel, 7015 Market St.

Domestic violence: James J. Nail, 29, of 177 Argyle Ave., Boardman, was charged with the crime after a 13-year-old family member alleged an intoxicated Nail had placed his arms around her head from behind and slammed her into a wall. The girl had red marks on her left arm and elbow.

Domestic violence: Police charged 24-year-old Mark A. Schobert, 7451 Oregon Trail, Boardman, after a fight with his brother that apparently resulted from longtime problems between them.

Theft: A compact-disc/DVD player, two small TVs and a GPS device were taken from a car in the 50 block of Sciota Avenue.

Theft: A man reported the theft of his wallet at a South Avenue grocery store.

Theft: A Melrose Avenue woman noticed $37 and prescription medications missing from her purse.

Theft: A woman discovered her wallet missing while at a South Avenue business.

Felonious assault: A man reported having been punched in the back of the head and neck during an argument with another driver in the 1400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road. He complained of head and eye pain, nausea and dizziness.

Trespassing: Jacqueline A. Kather, 22, of 401 E. Montrose St., Liberty, was charged with criminal trespassing and was wanted on a warrant charging her with falsification. Kather was at Yankee Kitchen restaurant, 6635 Market St., despite having been warned to stay off the property, a report said.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 6900 block of Paxton Road was found with a broken taillight, a deep scratch and a dent. The damage estimate was $350.

May 22

Burglary: Occurred in the 4200 block of Hillman Way through the front door. Stolen were an iPod device, a 37-inch flat-screen TV, a CD player and other items.

Identity fraud: A Maple Drive woman learned her credit card had been used to make two unauthorized payments totaling about $120.

Menacing: A man said his 14-year-old son had been threatened at Boardman Glenwood Middle School, 7635 Glenwood Ave.

Stolen property: Gary D. Main Jr., 32, of 868 Cook Ave., Boardman, faced a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property when, police said, Main had a grinder and a battery pack that had been stolen from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Meadowbrook Avenue led to the arrests of 23-year-old Jennifer L. Sharpe and 31-year-old Michael R. Maynard, both of 89 Oxford St., Campbell, on charges of violating a protection order. Struthers police informed township authorities that Maynard and Sharpe had such orders against each other, a report showed.

Theft of services: Someone without permission dumped bricks and concrete into a company-owned trash bin in the 700 block of Truesdale Avenue.

Theft: An Irma Avenue woman reported two $500 wedding rings stolen from a dresser.

Aggravated menacing: A Turnberry Drive woman told police her 12-year-old daughter received about 45 sexually explicit and threatening text messages.

Stalking: An employee with a Market Street restaurant told officers he felt threatened by a woman who was watching the eatery as he worked.

Theft: Austintown authorities handed 47-year-old Rhonda A. Jones to township police. Jones, of 118 Winchester Drive, Youngstown, was wanted on a theft warrant, accused of stealing two water filters from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 307 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Vandalism: Someone shot an arrow at a residence in the 1800 block of Alverne Drive and did $500 in damage to its aluminum siding.

Drugs: Police in the 5200 block of Market Street pulled over 21-year-old Aaron J. Baldwin, 153 E. Avondale Ave., Youngstown, before charging him with trafficking in drugs. Baldwin, who also was wanted on a bench warrant, had four bags of suspected marijuana and a digital scale, a report showed.

May 23

Forgery: Ronnie G. Lampkin, 54, who listed Youngstown addresses on Florida and Howland avenues, was picked up near the Boardman Plaza. He was wanted on a felony warrant from Austintown charging him.

Domestic violence: Christopher F. Kalan, 33, of 8150 Tod Ave., Boardman, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Kalan had cut her and threatened to kill the accuser.

Breaking and entering: Someone may have used a key to enter a building in the 100 block of Mathews Road and steal a $700 minibike.

Menacing: A South Schenley Avenue woman reported two people threatened her while the accuser was in her front yard.

Criminal mischief: A Hillman Way man said a relative kicked a door and broke its frame.

Harassment: A worker for a Boardman medical facility told officers of receiving numerous unwanted text messages from a man whose children had received home-care services.

Theft: A key ring and four keys as well as a remote-control device were removed from a locker at a Boardman-Canfield Road gym.

Theft: A man in his early 40s stole a $148 wireless device from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Weapon: A traffic stop on Market Street led to charges of carrying a concealed weapon and operating a vehicle impaired against 26-year-old Markus A. Dawson, 1368 Ivanhoe Ave., Youngstown. Dawson was driving while intoxicated and had a loaded .40-caliber handgun, police said.
