Poland, Champion, Mathews are state-bound

The Poland, Champion and Mathews softball teams have advanced to next week’s state competition in Akron.

Poland defeated Akron Hoban, 7-0, to qualify in Division II.

In Massillon, Champion scored in the seventh inning to edge Sullivan Black River, 1-0.

In Kent, Mathews qualified for state for the first time with a 6-0 win over Akron Elms.

Poland and Champion are defending state champions.
