Packard Band marks milestone

WARREN

The Packard Band will mark the 100th anniversary of its first concert in Packard Park with a free 3 p.m. show Sunday in the South Lawn Band Shell. The concert will feature music played during that 1912 event.

Wendell Lauth, a local historian, will give a presentation on the park’s history, music and tradition at 2:15 p.m. The first 400 people in attendance will receive a free photo of the 1912 Warren Municipal Band.

Donald W. Byo will conduct Sunday’s concert. The program will include John Philip Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and Irving Berlin’s “Alexander’s Rag Time Band.

Museum offers trip to Massillon sites

WARREN

The Sutliff Museum’s third and final One-Day Bus Tour will be a June 16 visit to Massillon’s Spring Hill Homestead, which was a safe house on the Underground Railroad.

The visit will include an interactive re-enactment of the flight of the slaves. Lunch is $15 and will be a picnic on the grounds of this historic and restored farm home.

The second feature of the trip will be a visit to the Studio Arts and Glass shop to experience stained-glass making. A $5 discount will be available to Sutliff travelers on purchases of at least $10.

Car show planned

Youngstown

The Men of Faith Ministry of Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Park-cliffe Ave., will sponsor a car, motorcycle and truck show from noon to dusk July 14.

The show will include a bike run in memory of Myke Clarett, a co-founder of the event, who died earlier this year.
