Teachers gave their final goodbyes to their third-grade students during Lynn-Kirk Elementary School’s farewell event at the Skate Zone May 16.

“We come to the Skate Zone every year. It’s an all-day event for them,” said teacher Stacy Banko.

The event also doubled as a reward for students for taking the Ohio Achievement Assessment, according to Banko.

The echoes of high pitched laughs and flashes of red from laser guns filled Skate Zone’s facility and it was apparent that almost every child was enjoying themselves.

“When a mom is dragging her kid out of the door, you know they had a good time,” said Skate Zone manager Greg Maynard. Some parents said their children couldn’t wait for this day to come. Amanda Roby, mother of 9-year-old Dylan Roby, said her son was full of anticipation the night before.

“He was so excited he didn’t want to go to sleep last night,” Amanda Roby said.

Though the day was full of excitement and fun, some teachers had mixed feelings about parting their ways with their class.

“It’s bittersweet because they’re a really good group of kids,” said Banko.
