Holy Family excels at History Day

Nine Holy Family students competed in the History Day competition March 31 at Youngstown State University, with five advancing to the state event.

Competing in the Junior Division were Joe Kelty, Tony Zeno, Alena Argiro, Arielle Kreuzwieser, Michelle Hanna, Laure Pesko, Michael Puhalla, Mallory Wardle, and Katrina Hayes.

The students were asked to explore the year’s theme of “Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.”

Anthony Zeno, seventh grade, placed third in the same category with his project exploring the importance of the Steel Mill Riots. Zeno also took first in the local history category.

In the group exhibit category, sixth-graders Laura Pesko, Michelle Hanna and Michael Puhalla placed first for their project on the Boston Tea Party.
