A warehouse on Cherry Street was a total loss after an early morning fire today that is expected to continue burning for most of the day.

The fire department was called to the site of Crivelli Auto Warehouse between 6 and 6:30 a.m. today, said John J. O’Neill Jr., Youngstown fire chief.

It is not known at this time how the fire started, but it began in the northern portion of the large warehouse building, he said. The building contains three large rooms and firefighters attempted to cut the fire off before it spread to other rooms.

Orlando Crivelli, owner of the warehouse, said he had bought the building a few years ago with plans to sell all the old items on eBay.

“We were doing pretty well until this,” he said. “There was just a lot of old stuff in the building.”

O’Neill said it was too early at this time to know the cause of the fire or if it was suspicious.

No one was hurt in the fire, he said.
