Ohio Glaciers 14U — won the Triple Crown Sports Great Lakes Opener tournament championship in Youngstown. The Glaciers went 5-0 with wins over Pittsburgh No-Names 3-1 and 1-0, Lansing (Mich.) Hit Club 7-1 and 11-2, Little Caesars (Mich.) 13-1. Members of the team include Richie Serignese, Johnny Matthews, Frank Fraschetti, Kolby Wolfe, Joe Gunn, Evan Kendall, Mark Clause, Brady Reefer, Braxton Giavedoni, Jason Swope and Nick Barto. Rich Serignese is the coach. Ohio Glaciers 10U and 12U teams were runners-up in their age groups in this tournament, and the 9U team was runner-up at the Blue Chip Classic.

East Palestine 10-14, Valentino Construction 7 — In the first game, Jessica Leake and Carlee Biegenwald each had two hits. In the second game, Dani Bandy drove in two runs.

Players Division

Columbiana 20-9, Austintown Dairy Queen 5-8 — Abby Fleeson had three hits and three RBIs for Columbiana in the first game. Emily King had two hits and Ansley Covert had three RBIs in the secondgame. Holly Gotthardt was the winning pitcher.

Ohio Blast 12U — took runner-up at the Canton Mother’s Day Tournament. Members of the team include Codi Taylor (North Lima), Hope Thomas (North Lima), Alisha Dean (New Waterford), Caroline Griswold (Youngstown), Kelsey Byers (Alliance), Annie Zagorec (Hubbard), Bailey Byers (Alliance), Rachel Ward (McDonald), Hanna Dennison (New Springfield), Maddie Helon (Poland), and Drew Feren (Canfield).

Ohio Blast 10U — took second place at the Ohio Jaguars ASA Eastern National Qualifier in Jefferson. Members of the team include Lainie Simons (Austintown), Olivia Lombardo (New Castle, Pa.), Bree Kohler (Poland), Emily Darlington (Howland), Hunter Gorby (Rogers), Brianna Callow (McDonald), Eileen Flowers (Chester, W. Va.), Kylie Hyde (Canfield), Megan Ward (McDonald) and Leah Pancake (Negley). Coaches are Chris Lombardo, Fred Kohler, Doug Hyde and Bill Pancake.

Thunder Elite 98 — won the Ohio Jaguars tournament 14U division. The team outscored their opponents 36-14, including wins over the Cyclones, 4-3 in extra innings in the semifinals, and 13-1 over Jefferson Jaguars in the championship. Members of the team included Skyler Gilanyi (LaBrae), Alex Romano (Lakeview), Alley Pykare (Kinsmen), Lauren Rutherford (LaBrae), Hannah Kowach (Howland), Baylie Haines (Delahunty, Pa.), Sam Dean (Windham), Ashlyn Slusher (Bristol), Sami Marino (Lakeview) and Jensen Silbaugh (Lakeview). Coaches are Don Gilanyi, James Rutherford, Greg Slusher and Lauren Crays.

WRESTLING

Green Machine — Alexander Mackall and David-Brian Whisler won championships at the Central Regional in Grand Rapids, Mich. Mackall won in Cadet 106-pound competition with a 6-0 record, and Whisler was the Cadet 160-pound champio with a 2-0 record.
