SWAT team kills man in Columbus

COLUMBUS

Police say a man was fatally shot by SWAT officers after a domestic dispute at a Columbus home turned into a hostage situation.

Sgt. Rich Weiner says officers responding to a domestic violence call Tuesday discovered 28-year-old Kevin Boozer yelling outside of his parents’ home.

Weiner says as officers approached, Boozer shoved a woman into the house, went inside and locked the door. He says officers heard breaking glass and other commotion inside, including a woman pleading for mercy.

Weiner says a SWAT team arrived, entered the home and found Boozer holding a knife to the woman’s throat. That’s when officers opened fire, hitting Boozer.
