Wright-Patterson flight club moving in Ohio

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — The manager and some members of an Air Force base flying club set for closure in Ohio are taking wing to a nearby regional airport.

The 58-year-old Wright-Patterson Aero Club will be shut down this summer because of financial losses, after the base commander near Dayton said she couldn’t see any way for the club to become self-sustaining as required for base recreational organizations.

The Dayton Daily News reports the club’s manager and chief instructor pilot are moving to MacAir Aero Club at Greene County’s Lewis A. Jackson Regional Airport. Others in the 320-member Wright-Patterson club say they also will move.

The Air Force club served current and former military members and civilian base employees by providing flying lessons or flight time, operating on membership and user fee
