A would-be traffic stop around 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Struthers-Liberty Road r esulted in a car chase, wreck and foot pursuit, Campbell police reported.

Jerry L. London IV, 25, of Aberdeen Avenue in Youngstown was caught afterward and charged with fleeing and eluding, driving under suspension, obstructing official business, unauthorized use of a vehicle and “sign or poster upon windshield,” police said.

A police officer stopped a car London was driving because it had items hanging from the rearview mirror, but London “peeled out” as the officer was approaching him, the report says.

He wove in and out of traffic, speeding, and ran a red light at Robinson Road, the report says. He tried to turn right on Fatima Drive but lost control and hit a tree. He got out of the car through the driver’s-side window and ran.

Police caught him on Jackson Street.

They said they also got a call from the owner of the car London was driving, who reported he did not have permission to use it.

London was taken to the Mahoning County jail and was expected to be in court for arraignment this morning.
