Sapphire Rushwin, 7, has become a finalist in the National American Miss Ohio Pageant, set for July 27 and 28 in Columbus. The pageant is for girls in the 7 through 9 age group.

Sapphire, daughter of Ronell Rushwin of Austintown, pursues cheerleading, roller skating and reading, and she enjoys school, playing with her friends and her pets and listening to music.

Each year, the pageant awards thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes to encourage America’s future leaders. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and achieving personal goals.
