YSU students learn to Pay It Forward

WARREN

Youngstown State University students in the Nonprofit Community Service course gained hands-on experience in philanthropy this spring through YSU’s Pay It Forward student-philanthropy initiative.

Students had $2,000 to award to a nonprofit organization. They focused on projects related to arts and culture, neighborhood revitalization and youth development.

Students reviewed 17 proposals requesting over $30,000 and gave funding to Inspiring Minds, a Warren-based nonprofit, for its “On My Own” summer program, which will teach under- represented students life skills needed to adapt to college life and living on their own.
