Family, friends honor Helmicks’ 50th anniversary

CANFIELD

Elden and Virginia Helmick of Canfield marked the 50th anniversary of their marriage with a reception May 5 with family and friends at the Smokehouse in Greenford.

Hosts of the event were Matt and Debbie Baird.

Mr. Helmick and the former Virginia Mae Hiner were married May 5, 1962, at Greenford Lutheran Church.

The couple have four children: sons Mark Helmick of Greenford, Brent Helmick of San Diego, Chad Helmick of Boardman; and daughter Tracy Higgins of Greenford. They also have four grandchildren.

Mr. Helmick retired in 2003 from Crane Deming Pump Co. in Salem. He works part time for BOC Co.

Mrs. Helmick works at Haus Fruit Farm and Cider Mill in Canfield.

The couple are members of Greenford Lutheran Church, where he is an usher, she handles altar care and they both help prepare communion.
