YOUNGSTOWN

The latest in a long string of intentionally set fires in Youngstown destroyed a South Side home early this evening.

Youngstown fire fighters said they believe the fire on Williamson Avenue near Erie Street was arson.

Batallion Chief Ron Russo said the house was vacant so firefighters monitoried the blaze while allowing the house to burn down.

Russo added that firefighters got to the scene in time to prevent the neighboring vacant house from also catching ablaze.

No injuries were reported.

Over the past two weeks, more than a dozen arsons have been reported at vacant structures in the c ity.
