CLEVELAND

A 29-year-old Warren woman has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release in an Oct. 31 robbery at Key Bank on Canton Road in Akron, to which she pleaded guilty. Nicole R. Matanin drew the sentence Friday from Judge Dan Aaron Polster of U.S. District Court, who also ordered her and her co-defendant, Justin R. Bowman, 29, of Niles, to make $1,103 in restitution to the bank for the money taken. Judge Polster will sentence Bowman, who also pleaded guilty, at 10:30 a.m. June 20.

Baby bargains today

BOARDMAN

Boardman Park will have its annual Baby Bargain Boutique from 9 a.m. to noon today at Masters Pavilion.

Admission is free, and vendors will offer gently used baby, children and maternity clothing, toys, books, furniture and more for children under 8.

Watershed festival

CANFIELD

A watershed festival will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm. The free event will feature exhibits concerning fish survey equipment, live birds of prey, and composting, together with a rain-garden tour, stream sampling, crafts, tractor-wagon tours of the farm, guided nature hikes and a watershed bicycle ride for those who bring their own bikes. The event is sponsored by the Alliance for Watershed Action and Resource Education.

Transit of Venus

FARRELL, Pa.

Farrell High School will feature free, public shows on the Transit of Venus in its Ted Pedas Planetarium, 1700 Roemer Blvd., at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. May 29 and at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. June 5. Reservations are required by calling 724- 509-1258 between 8 a.m. and noon and 1 and 3 p.m. on weekdays. A free, public viewing of the actual Transit of Venus across the face of the sun will begin at 6 p.m. June 5 behind the high school, with the image of the transit being projected from a telescope onto a screen. Eclipse shades will be provided for safe viewing. The next transit won’t occur until 2117.

Lane restrictions

LOWELLVILLE

Beginning Monday, River Road from the eastern Lowellville limit to Washington Street and Jackson Street and from McCaffney Street to the eastern Lowellville limit will have various lane restrictions for resurfacing. This work is part of a $600,000 project to resurface River Road and Jackson Street and is scheduled to be completed in late June.

Bridge repairs set

BOARDMAN

Beginning Monday, state Route 7 (Market Street) near Palestine Avenue will have various lane restrictions for bridge repairs. This is part of a $400,000 project to replace the Route 7 bridge over the Charles Avenue ditch. The entire project will be complete by October 2012.

Update on I-680

YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Department of Transportation District 4 has announced several updates on Interstate 680 construction.

The entrance ramp from Shirley Road to I-680 northbound is closed for bridge repairs. This ramp will remain closed through 6 a.m. Monday.

The following traffic patterns are in place on I-680 at Midlothian Boulevard: I-680 northbound and southbound over Midlothian Boulevard is reduced to two lanes in each direction.

The I-680 southbound exit ramp to Midlothian Boulevard south is closed through late September. The southbound Midlothian Boulevard ramp to I-680 northbound is closed through late September.
