The kindergarten students at Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten in Canfield recently invited family and friends to their 2012 art show at the school.

Guests enjoyed cookies and lemonade as they strolled through the art gallery. They had fun guessing who the classmates were.

The theme this year was “A Summer Day.” Each piece was designed and decorated on paper. They began by using pencil and crayons, but then transferred their original work to canvas. Each project was finished with acrylic paint.

What helped to make this art show so unique was seeing chairs in front of each canvas with very large paper cutouts. The students designed them to look like themselves. The children dressed their own unique cutout in clothing.

The art show has been an annual event to celebrate the Fine Arts in the school’s curriculum for the past 25 years. Mary Ann Critell and Felicia Ciotola planned and organized this event, along with assistance from Mary Clyde and Jodi Beight.
