Lakeview boys, Girard girls in early lead

The Lakeview High boys track and field team and Girard girls squad lead after four eventson Thursday at the Division II district championships.

Lakeview has 28 points to lead the boys competition, with Woodridge at 24 points and CVCA at 21.

In girls action, Girard has 25 points to lead Woodridge with 23 and CVCA with 22.

Lakeview qualified three individuals and a relay to next week’s regional in Bedford.

Trevor Watson was third in the discus (137 feet, 5 inches), while Louie Novakovich (12-6)and A.J. Miller (12-0) were third and fourth, respectively, in the pole vault.

Also, Lakeview’s 4x800-meter relay of Eric Harris, Christopher Edie, Luke Brantingham and Adam Bogard finished third (8 minutes, 29.80 seconds).

Other boys who advanced Jabril Brown (21-0.75) of Girard, Marcus Penza of Cardinal Mooney (20-11) and Daquan Carter of Liberty (20-8.75) in the long jump; and Nate Bucci of Girard (139-2) in the discus.

Girard’s Ashley Wagner (5-3) won the high jump and Abby Dunn of Lakeview (8-6) was first in the pole vault.

Also qualifying were Miranda Dugan (5-0) of LaBrae in the high jump, Nia Brown (35-2.50) of Liberty in the shot put, Cautlyn Trebella (7-0) of Girard in the pole vault, and Lakeview’s 4x800 relay of Megan Paskey, Taylor Waid, Morgan Sims and Hollie Frantz.
