Hitchcock Woods students honor mothers

Hitchcock Woods Learning Center recently celebrated its 29th annual Mother’s Tea celebration as Linda Pitzer and Katie Palangao’s 4-year-old preschool students honored their mothers.

The children prepared a light lunch for their moms or special people and adorned their mothers in a paper sun bonnet. The bonnets are one-of-a-kind and designed by each child. The mothers also received a bouquet of paper hand lillies and an apron made of a pillow case.

The tea is culminated with special songs performed by the children.

“This is a very touching event — each year it brings tears to my eyes as the children meet their mothers in the foyer, give them a hug and present them with their bonnets,” said Pattie Welsh, preschool director. “The children take such pride in all the preparation of such a significant event.”
