Driver charged with vehicular homicide in death of bicyclist last fall

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Nathan Skaggs, 18, was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide Thursday, after an investigation into the Nov. 17 death of 18-year-old Derek Martin.

Troopers said Skaggs was driving the car that hit Martin, who was riding his bicycle on Mahoning Avenue in Milton Township and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, highway patrol investigators said Skaggs had marijuana in his system at the time of the crash.
