Kielbasa named to Dean’s List

Alina Kielbasa has been named to the Dean’s List at Marietta College. Kielbasa, a graduate of Austintown-Fitch High School, is majoring in International Leadership and Communications at Marietta.

Library to close

The Austintown library, 600 S. Raccoon Road will close temporarily until mid-June so that the flooring can be replaced.

The library will extend due dates on items checked out at Austintown library that would have been due back during this closed period. Extended use fees for items checked out at Austintown library will not accrue during the days the branch is closed.

Book drops outside the Austintown library will be available while the branch is closed. Materials can be checked out and/or returned at any of the other public libraries in Mahoning County.

Prostate Cancer Program set

A free prostate cancer program, “To Screen or Not to Screen” will be held on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mr. Anthony’s, 7440 South Ave. Drs. Vince Ricchiuti, Mark Memo, Richard Nord and Paul Musselman will discuss the PSA screening test and if it’s recommended for men 50 or younger. This program will highlight some of the recent media information pertaining to when is the right time for screening.

Bereaved Parents meeting set

The Mahoning County Chapter of Bereaved Parents of the USA meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Park Vista of Youngstown, 1216 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. The parents meet to honor and remember their children who have passed away.

Austintown Memorial Day Parade set

The Austintown Memorial Day Parade will be May 28 at 10:30 a.m. The parade will follow a route from Marc’s parking lot at the corner of Mahoning Avenue and Idaho Road, to the Fitch High School Veteran Memorial.

A Commemorative Service beginning at 11 a.m., sponsored by the Austintown Memorial American Legion Post No. 301 and Austintown VFW Post, will take place. The Master of Ceremonies, Post No. 301 Commander, Gary Kommel, will be introducing the main speaker, CW03 Donald Oglesby.

Divelbiss inducted to Nursing Honor Society

Janet Divelbiss of Austintown was inducted to the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. The society honors undergraduate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.

Divelbiss is a registered nurse who is pursuing her master’s degree in nursing through the Graduate and Professional Studies division at Saint Joseph’s, which offers online education for working professionals.

Libraries closing notice

All libraries in the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County system will be closed May 27-28.

Baby bargain boutique

Boardman Park will be hosting its annual Baby Bargain Boutique today from 9 a.m. to noon at Masters Pavilion. Admission is free. Wickliffe block watch hosts garage sale

The Austintown Wickliffe Block Watch is accepting clean and usable donations for its garage sale Aug. 28-29. All proceeds from the sale will go toward the group’s annual block party which is open to all Austintown residents. Murder Mystery dinner needs suspects

The Myrddin Winery in Lake Milton will host a Murder Mystery dinner on Friday at 7 p.m. and is searching for people to participate in the show.

Anyone interested in being one of the eight murder suspects or 16 sleuths should call 330-654-9181. Especially needed are people to play the murder suspects.

Italian Fest to be in August

The Greater Youngstown Italian Fest will be held on Aug. 3-5 in downtown Youngstown. The festival is now accepting applications for the Italian Man and Woman of the Year.

The St. Elizabeth Boardman Wound Care Center has moved to 7010 South Ave., Suite 6 in Boardman. The new office, at the corner of South Avenue and Trailwood Drive, opened this morning and is convenient to Route 224 and Interstate 680, providing easier access for patients than its former DeBartolo Place office.

St. Elizabeth Wound Care Center specializes in providing comprehensive care for chronic, non-healing wounds using the latest treatments and technologies.

Eat pasta, support Tyler

A pasta dinner in support of Tyler Branca will be held tomorrow from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 7345 Westview Drive. The cost is $9 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under. Dinner includes pasta, meatballs, salad, roll, dessert, coffee, tea and orange drink. Pasta, sauce and meatballs are donated by Cafe Capri.

Branca is a 21-year-old college student who was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Monetary donations are also accepted at any First National Bank — just ask for the Tyler Branca Fund.

Car Trunk and Treasure Sale set

The Ursuline Center Car Trunk and Treasure Sale will be July 14 at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Ursuline Center on Shields Road in Canfield. Spaces are now available for cars.

The cost for a side-by-side space is $25, but the fee will increase to $30 after June 30. All spaces are first-come, first-served.

The sale will also include food and refreshments on sale as well as a book, bake and furniture sale that be will held inside the center. The sale of pets, firearms and fireworks will not be permitted.
