BOARDMAN
A 24-year-old Austintown man will be arraigned today, accused of stealing more than $8,500 from his former employer, Brinks.
Luis M. Carrasquillo, a Brinks employee, brought a customer-deposit bag to the company’s Southern Boulevard facility about 4 p.m. Monday, and managers said it was missing about $2,000 and the bag’s seal was tampered with, according to reports.
Brinks is a company best known for securely transporting cash between banks.
Police said managers then researched Carrasquillo’s past deposits and revealed that between August 2011 and this week, Carrasquillo is alleged to have taken $8,599.
When Brinks managers went to Carrasquillo’s house Tuesday, he returned $6,420 and was told he was fired and warned to stay off Brinks property, reports state.
Carrasquillo provided a written statement to Brinks admitting the thefts and posted his $4,000 bond Tuesday, police said.
