Tropical Storm Aletta weakening in the Pacific

MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Aletta is weakening as it spins far out over the Pacific.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says the storm’s maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40 mph (65 kph) early today with gradual weakening expected during the next two days.

Aletta is centered about 830 miles (1,335 kilometers) south-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California. The storm is moving west near 9 mph (15 kph).
