ODNR issues permit for Columbiana County well

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued one permit last week for a horizontal- drilling well in Columbiana County.

The permit was issued May 2 in Hanover Township in Columbiana County. The site is on New Garden Avenue between the Eagle Pass Golf Course and Guilford Lake State Park. The permit was issued to Chesapeake Exploration LLC.

This is the 35th horizontal-drilling permit issued for the tri-county area.

No horizontal wells in the area are producing. The two that appear to be closest are the Sanor Farms 23-17-5 3H well in Columbiana County owned by Chesapeake, which has been fracked and is completed, and the Geatches MAH 3H well in Milton Township in Mahoning County, which has been completed.
