Man accused of stealing $8,500 from Brinks

BOARDMAN

A 24-year-old Austintown man will be arraigned today, accused of stealing more than $8,500 from his former employer Brinks.

Luis M. Carrasquillo, a Brinks employee, brought a customer despot bag to the company’s Southern Boulevard facility about 4 p.m. Monday and managers said it was missing about $2,000 and the bag’s seal was tampered with, according to reports.

Brinks is a company best-known for securely transporting cash between banks.

Police said managers then researched Carrasquillo’s past deposits and revealed that between August 2011 and this week, Carrasquillo is alleged to have taken $8,599.

When Brinks managers went to Carrasquillo’s house on Tuesday, he returned $6,420 and was told he was fired and warned to stay off Brinks property, reports state.

Carrasquillo provided a written statement to Brinks admitting the thefts and posted his $4,000 bond Tuesday, police said.
